THE GOBLETS OF MUSE

it is here that the river

runs through the enchanted forest,

not that of styx,

but that of the elixir

in all of its currents

in the magnificent rush.

this settler

like that of a pilgrim,

is engaged

in the free flowing experience

of all the shrines.

let not mental strife

lift up its heels.

great arches over moutains

is all about the images of strength.

here in my palms –

i drink of the elixir.

WORKING THE STREAMS

this beaver is no ordinary one.

it’s compulsive ways

in its business building

says a thing or two about all the outlets.

there is ingenuity in that

these streams need dams.

it’s a busy-ness

that is all too important.

it is here that old speakers

with old tape recordings

get buried with the mud and sticks –

thus effective silencing the sound.

it’s a great way

to quiet things down

and get rid of all the annoyances.

this beaver likes to build dams,

because the soul is all about peace and quiet.

INTELLECTUAL TURN ON

here i turn on the faucet,

where the words

get wet and begin to bubble

with a romantic binge

that makes it feel

a little heavy in each breath.

together it stimulates

and nurtures each other

until it becomes

like the cast of two lovers

in a movie part

when bodies come together

in the water.

that rub down of massage

with such a focus,

leads one to believe

that it’s great when words

can create so much excitement

of a “get laid” quality all of its own.

MONUMENT

there is more going on here than what meets the eye.  the poem below.

her life

read like an epitaph

from seventeen on.

wanting to hear the voice

of the woman,

soon left me on my knees

as evergreens shoulder distance eyes.

but as i begin to follow

the outer edges of the stone

with my shaky fingers,

my eyes trickle like water

seeping out of a rock wall slowly

until they land upon the soil

and is absorbed.

but as the wind

whispers from behind,

feels as if her fingers

run lightly through my hair

as if here to say goodbye.

i stand up and look at the sun –

the blurr just too much.

the tissue left behind

tears touching her name.

THESE CHILDREN OF MINE…

like to talk a lot;

sometimes out of turn.

they talk freely

and have no shame

in talking dirty

to clear the air.

they want to know why

we have fucking smog, and i say,

“a little pollution won’t kill us,

but smog isn’t a dirty word either.”

THIS TRAMP

attention getter-

a little mouthy would be

the best of description.

has a strut

that is eye-popping

and knows a thing, or two,

when it comes to a little action

when dressed up to the hilt.

this reputation carries clout,

and when the clothes come off,

it’s all business

and pleasure seeking at wits end.

THE FUGITIVE OF LOVE DEVINE

in the still

of the calm enchanted forest,

there was the one

with a firmer foot.

it new beauty

in all the winners,

from a spirit held high

in the streams delight wheel.

but there was the other one,

where both knees

were plunged deep

in the grasp of the soil.

he saw that his eyes

were very beat red

as if in a sandstorm.

i have made my return

from a long absence.

it is here

that a great dane be born

and become definitive

in a new path.

there is much work to be done,

if you expect your muse

to be the work

of the skillful engravers in stone,

you must release the dark air

to invite in bright air.

chase the love,

like eros riding the lion.

it’s time my friend,

i’ve wandered off for too long.

remember – take it deep,

and just keep hollering

when mixing the fire with ice.
